Universal Health Services Fairfax Behavioral Health

Spokane, WA

This 100-bed behavioral health hospital is the most recent addition to the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center campus in Spokane, Washington. The three-story facility includes patient rooms and treatment areas, a gym, courtyard, kitchen, natural lighting, dedicated parking and an ambulance bay. The “X” shaped floor plan was developed to accommodate an existing rock outcropping on site. To resolve the steep sloping site, the steel-framed building is split into a two-story southwest wing and three stories for the remainder with a heavy retaining wall bisecting the building. The upper-story exterior walls were installed as pre-fabricated panels to expedite the construction schedule.
