UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center Expansion

Davis, CA

The expansion of the existing Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) serves the growing student population at UC Davis, enabling ARC members to complete their workouts and return to school, work or home in less time. The project includes both a renovation as well as a 16,300 square feet expansion into the existing central courtyard area. The added space increases the functional use of the building and energy efficiency, as well as allowing space for more equipment. The addition to the existing two-story braced frame structure is seismically separated, and infills the existing entry area by adding a second floor which is hung from the existing curved roof framing on the interior and attached to the existing columns on the exterior.
