California Highway Patrol Truckee
Truckee, CA
Built about 5,800 ft above sea level, this California Highway Patrol Field Office is an essential service facility built to last. The project consisted of a single-story 29,000 SF main building, additional storage buildings, additional parking, and foundations for an 88-ft radio tower. In addition to resisting large snow loads and high seismicity common to mountainous regions, the facility was also designed for superior durability and low maintenance needs to help withstand a harsh 24/7 operational use environment. Site concrete pavements were all equipped with snow melt systems with ample room for site snow storage. A record-setting snow year and subsequent tight construction window complicated this design-build project, but the Buehler team was able to work closely with the project team to deliver a comprehensive and functional field office for the CHP on time.
