Mercy Midtown Medical Office Building

Sacramento, CA

The Mercy Midtown Medical Office Building serves as a state-of-the-art facility for Dignity Health at the intersection of 30th and Q streets in midtown Sacramento. The structure has the distinction of being the last moment frame structure utilizing reduced beam section (RBS) connections done by Buehler before code updates made such a connection less economical. Standing 6 stories, the building is supported on isolated spread footings over controlled low strength material (CLSM) which resulted in a significant cost savings over the originally anticipated deep foundation systems considered during schematic design. To reduce seismic drifts at all frame locations, concrete grade beams with encased wide flanges were used to create a fixed base structure.
