Announcing David Pomerleau's Retirement
January \ 2026
It is with great admiration and gratitude that we announce the retirement of Associate Principal David Pomerleau, SE.
David’s contributions over his 34-year structural engineering career extend far beyond his 7 years at Buehler. His expertise and focus have involved the investigation, evaluation, and retrofit of a wide variety of structures dating from the early 1900s to present, as well as code development, earthquake reconnaissance, and seismic risk reduction advocacy.
After serving on technical committees with the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California for many years, David was Chair of the Existing Buildings Committee for the state-level SEAOC from 2005 to 2006, where he contributed to updating the International Existing Building Code and ordinances surrounding adaptive reuse for the City of Los Angeles.
David points to establishing and maintaining relationships with some of our key construction and design partners as a favorite part of his Buehler tenure. He is proud to have helped anchor Buehler as a trusted teammate within the Los Angeles AEC community.
In retirement, David plans to do more: garden more, cook more, spend more quality time with his adult children, and travel the world more with his wife, Susan. Please join us in wishing him congratulations on an industrious career filled with dedication to the greater good and an exciting future!
