Universal Health Services Fairfax Behavioral Health

Spokane, WA

This 100-bed behavioral health hospital is the most recent addition to the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center campus in Spokane, Washington. The three-story facility includes patient rooms and treatment areas, a gym, courtyard, kitchen, natural lighting, dedicated parking and an ambulance bay. The “X” shaped floor plan was developed to accommodate an existing rock outcropping on-site. To resolve the steep sloping site, the steel-framed building is split into a two-story southwest wing and three stories for the remainder with a heavy retaining wall bisecting the building. The upper-story exterior walls were installed as pre-fabricated panels to expedite the construction schedule.
