Kern County Justice Facility

Bakersfield, CA

The Kern County Justice Facility is located on a 15 acre site and consists of three medium-security housing units with approximately 100 cells each and one maximum-security mental health/special housing unit with approximately 104 cells. All told, the facility accommodates over 800 beds and supports the varying programs required for the range of security classifications of the inmate population. A support building houses healthcare, custodial and administrative support services. Constructed of CMU bearing and shear walls and steel framing with metal deck floors and roofs, the structural design was focused on meeting the security needs of the campus.
